Hello! I’m Kerie
I'm a Portland-based audiobook narrator with over 20 years of stage experience and conservatory training, including intensive programs at RADA and Lee Strasberg. I bring a polished, emotionally layered sound to every performance. I am a trained lyric soprano with a deep command of accents (Irish, Northern Irish, British RP, Scottish, Italian) and gravitate toward lofty high fantasy, historical fiction, sci-fi, mysteries, and thrillers. I'm the narrator you call when your protagonist carries great responsibility, feels everything, and fights to maintain composure, not always succeeding. Having survived abusive relationships, divorce, and infertility, I don't perform resilience, I've lived it. I'm a redheaded middle child, a mom fiercely championing an ADHD kid, and the owner of a German Shorthaired Pointer named Serafina Puppula (Philip Pullman fans will understand). I'm fascinated by indigenous cultures, myths, and the stories of women who refused to stay where the world put them. I gravitate to characters with heart, and a strong will to march to the beat of their own drum, be it on earth, in space, or an imaginary fantasy land.

"Kerie Darner has brought my stories to life in ways I never thought possible. She is able to convey a wide range of emotions in her performance that brings nuance and depth to the text, and that allows the characters to leap off the page. She has also handled a host of different characters (and my first book had a lot of characters!), expertly differentiating them through a variety of accents, mannerisms, and inflections. Her performance allowed each character to feel different, while still being entertaining and real. Based on reviews and feedback, I know these skills were greatly appreciated by listeners and helped bring my books to a much wider audience.
Kerie is also very professional to work with, communicating clearly and delivering work in a timely manner, if not earlier. She takes direction well, and was quick to correct the rare issue or provide a new interpretation of a scene. Furthermore, she has been an active partner in the process, providing feedback and suggestions based on her knowledge of the medium, and the final product has been better off for it. She was diligent in understanding the correct pronunciations for all my fantasy names (and sometimes she pronounced them better than I did). I think Kerie would be a wonderful fit for a great number of projects and I look forward to working with her on my next book."
